13. The school service incident

The scene where Allan and Francis get into trouble with girls was an incident that happened to me in real life. I was in first grade and took a shuttle service after school with a friend. One day, he got so annoyed with the girls riding with us that a fight broke out. I was of course in the middle of all that mess. Thank goodness the driver got wind of it and he put everyone in their place.

Sometimes, I can't help but be influenced by film everytime I think of a scene. To the left is one of those examples. After we see the school service drive off, we cut to Rebecca... downloading an mp3? Doesn't make sense, right? Though it would've worked fine in the film editing room, I needed to keep reminding myself that this is a comic I'm working on, not a storyboard. Luckily, I found a way to connect the two scenes as you will see in the book. |
16. Sting Concert and the meteor shower
The first Sting concert in the Philippines was held at the ULTRA in early 1994 but unlike in the book, the rumored meteor shower supposedly occurred in his second visit three years later. According to friends, the shower lasted for five seconds during "Wrapped Around Your Finger" and that Sting paused for a moment, wondering why everyone was applauding wildly in the middle of the song.
If you look closely at the full-page drawing below, you'll notice a slight mistake I made in the position of the guitar. Truth is, Sting is left-handed! My bad. :)
